Germany's participation to the Let's Take Care of the Planet process

Activities in 2012-2013

The German School EHS participates to the Let’s Take Care of the Planet process this school-year, with a collaboration with schools from Hungary and Uzbekistan.
A local conference took place in September 2012, with the participation of the partners.
The school project: the campaign "Agenda 21 in the school", a program for schools in the NRW region, to raise their profile in the field of education for sustainable development.

Activities in 2011-2012: School project, local conference and European conference

This year, one school from Bonn (EHS - Emilie-Heyermann-Realschule) will participate to the activities at local level and a German delegation will take part in the European Conference in May 2012. More information soon in English.

Die Emilie-Heyermann-Realschule engagiert sich schon seit vielen Jahren auf unterschiedliche Weise in den Bereichen Klimaschutz und Soziales Lernen als Bestandteil der Kampagne „Agenda 21 in der Schule“. Im letzten Jahr wurden auf der Konferenz in Brasilien das Projekt „EHS und ein respektvolles Miteinander“ vorgestellt. In diesem Jahr möchten wir auf der lokalen Konferenz, wie auch in Brüssel, folgende Schwerpunkte aus dem Bereich Klimaschutz vorstellen: Schu­lung von Energiesparbeauftragten in den Klassen, 50/50-AG, Einsatz von Ener­giesparlampen und Zeitschaltuhren, Redu­zierung der Nachtbeleuchtung, Vermeidung von Stand-by und die Nutzung von umweltfreundlichem Recycling-Papier.
Zu diesen Themen arbeiten momentan zwei Arbeitsgemeinschaften mit 30 Schülerinnen und Schülern. Zusätzlich gibt es in allen Klassen ausgebildete Energiesparbeauftrage, die dort auch als Multiplikatoren tätig sind. Alle Lehrerinnen und Lehrer helfen in ihrem Unterricht bei der Erziehung zu Nachhaltigkeit.
Gemeinsam mit Schülern, Lehrern, Partnerschulen sowie außerschulischen Partnern haben wir bereits zahlreiche Auszeichnungen erhalten („Agenda 21 Schule“, „Offizielles Projekt der UN-Weltdekade Bildung für nachhaltige Entwicklung“). Durch die Installation und Nutzung einer Solaranlage ist die Schule ein Vorreiter in der Verwendung erneuerbarer Energien.
Im März 2012 zeigt die Emilie-Heyermann-Realschule mit ihrer Partnerschule Nr. 4 Buchara eine Ausstellung über das deutsch-usbekische Klimaschutz-Projekt SPICE im Stadthaus der Bundesstadt Bonn. Activities in 2010 : participation to the Let's Take Care of the Planet Youth International Conference, Brasilia

Number of participants: 6 delegates, 2 chaperons and 1 facilitator
Schools ou youth groups involved: 6 schools
Number of regions involved: 4 regions (Bavaria, Berlin, Rhineland-Palatinate, North-Rhine-Westphalia)

The participation of the German delegates has been organized by the German Commission for UNESCO in consultation with the Standing Conference of the Ministers of Education and Cultural Affairs of the Länder in the Federal Republic of Germany.

The preparation process included a conference with workshops at the Emilie Heyermann School within the framework of the UNESCO World Conference on Education for Sustainable Development (report available below). A national meeting of the delegates took place on April 10th 2010, in Bonn, Germany, where the participants wrote a National Charter of Responsibilities.
